What began my obsession with all things British? Was it frolicking in Frances Hodgson Burnetts, The Secret Garden with Mary and Colin? Perhaps it was falling from the wardrobe into Narnia with Lucy for the first time? It could have been flying over Big Ben to Neverland with JM Barrie. Was it as an adult when I discovered the decadent joy of binge watching, Downton Abbey? Maybe it is because one of my very favorite hobbies is irritating my husband, who hates all things that aren’t 100 % grade A beef cheeseburger American flag flying American, (even though he did introduce me to Middle Earth, King Arthur, and he has a definitive man crush on Sherlock.) Either way, the verdict is in, I love all things British, and once I realized I fit the profile of an Anglophile, I knew I needed to share my Anglo-FILE with the world.
I frequently speak in a terrible, annoying, and probably insulating British accent. But, hey, I also do a pretty good British person pretending to be American. I consider the Rose and Crown at Epcot to be the epitome of my British excitement, because hey after all, I am a tacky American and I have an unapologetic love for Walt Disney World.
I will be reviewing and recommending various genres and mediums of British television programming. Binge watching is kind of my thing, and I must say, I am bloody good at it! My preferred order of operations is to binge watch an entire series, then listen to podcasts about said series, then make secret Pinterest boards with my favorite quotes, maybe cry a little, then binge watch the entire thing again. I highly recommend this as pretty much best way to thoroughly saturate yourself into any new British show you take an interest in.
In my anglo-files, I will also be posting various Amazon affiliate links throughout, for which I may be paid a fee small enough to perhaps cover the cost of my prized BBC One subscription.
But I digress…onto the files!
